Initial Consultation

When you want to talk through your concerns with a qualified Speech and Language Therapist and get advice on your particular situation. 

Determine whether speech-language therapy is an appropriate option for you or your loved one.

No obligation for further consultations.

Assessment

Formal and informal information gathering tools used to find out the skills and challenges of the person who will be receiving therapy. 

​

No obligation to proceed with therapy following this appointment, however the information forms the basis of any therapy and goals are created from the findings of the assessment.

​

Generally 60 - 90 minutes long. 

​

A written summary of findings and recommendations is provided afterwards.

​

Examples of some formal tools that could be used include the gold-standard Clinical Evaluation of Language Fundamentals (CELF-5) preschool version for ages 3 yrs to 6;11 years, CELF-5 school aged version for 5 yrs to 21 years of age, Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test (PPVT-5) for ages 2;6 yrs to 90+ years of age, Receptive-Expressive Emergent language Test for 0-36 months, and the Rossetti infant-Toddler Language Scale for 0-36 months, NZ Articulation Test.

Therapy

Through fun but therapeutic activities, working through the goals set from assessment Helping your loved one's communication thrive!

Typically 30-45 minutes long.

Usually once per week or fortnight.

Overall length of therapy required is dependent on what goals are needed to be worked on and how the individual responds to the therapy.

​​

Working directly with the one needing therapy but also providing caregivers with information and tasks to do until the next therapy appointment.
